While researching ways to understand the redesigned curriculum, I thought that instead of spending my time doing this for a grade that I may or may not have, I should focus my energy on trying to reach my students through these competencies. Now, many of us have these so ingrained in our teaching that it seems strange to have to explicitly teach them. This is not necessarily the case in that we do get to choose which ones we want to address in alignment with the content.
One way I wanted to learn more about, in terms of addressing the competencies, was using "Genuis Hour" to teach these to our students.
